Mill Lane Cemetery

Mill Lane Cemetery is situated on Mill Lane, Kirk Ella, opposite the junction with Kerry Drive.

The Cemetery was opened in 1885 when St Andrew’s Churchyard was closed to new burials.  The first burial in Mill Lane Cemetery was for the late Alfred Emery, on October 21, 1885 and it is still open for burials and interments today.

The Cemetery is a private one and the deeds state that the Trustees of Mill Lane Cemetery are the Rector and two Churchwardens of St Andrew’s Church, although the Cemetery is not linked to the Church.  It is self-funded and all the income is spent on keeping the area as attractive and peaceful as possible and in maintaining the grounds in a suitable condition for everybody to enjoy.

Although the Cemetery looks full, there are still plenty of available burial plots (in which we can also inter ashes) and pathway stone memorials where we inter ashes.

If you’re interesting in burying your loved one in the Cemetery, or interring their ashes, or you would just like some further information, please contact Liz at the Church Office – or 01482 654713.
